4 months old

Miles turned 4 months old last Thursday (7-16) and also had his checkup the same day. He continues to be a big guy at 17lbs 9oz (90th percentile) and 25" long (75th percentile.) I'd say all that ice cream I eat is contributing to his healthy weight! =) The pedi said we could start solids anytime. We more than likely won't start until 6mths as they aren't really necessary and I think it's better to wait. He had his second set of vaccinations and did much better this time. He was just a little bit fussy and seemed fine the next day. He is in love with his hands and pretty much has them in his mouth at all times. So now, if he's not spitting up, he's covered in drool/slobber. He's always a hot mess. We go through several bibs and outfits a day. I'm doing at least one load of his laundry every day. As of a week ago Monday, he is no longer being swaddled. This has gone a lot better than I thought it would. He now sleeps in a sleep sack. Well, I guess I should add that for the first week, his sleep seemed to be about the same. Now, he has begun what is called the '4 month wakeful' period. Since Monday of this week, I would put him down at normal time, around 7pm, and an hour or so later he wakes up. He stays up until 9:30 or 10pm and then wakes up periodically through the night. I'm hoping this stage passes quickly and he resumes his normal sleep habits! His naps are also still pretty much unorganized... naps are usually about 45 mins to an hour long. Even with such short naps, he is a very happy and easygoing baby. We've started going to play dates pretty much every weekday. Miles enjoys watching Logan and the rest of the children play. No more rolling. Can lift his head 90 degrees while on his belly. Doesn't really love tummy time. Loves to sit with help. Loves to stand.
Here are a few snapshots of our little buddy from this weekend.

at the car wash

My car was in desperate need of a washing this past weekend. So, instead of going to the car wash, Jordan thought it would be fun for Logan if they washed it together. He was right; she had a BLAST! And yes, this is my minivan. Don't hate! It opens it's doors for me, tells me where the nearest target and publix are and it also warms my cheeks. It's the best car a mom could ask for!

This is serious business!
She would go back to the spots that had already been washed/rinsed and dab her sponge and run off!

We've been hitting up the zoo a lot recently on the weekends. We like to go early in the morning before it gets too hot. Logan is just getting to where she really enjoys going. Miles loves to people watch... he's not much into animals yet.

An attempt at getting Logan to take a picture... FAIL she's not very interested in smiling for the camera these days
milo-man taking in the sights at the zoo

daddy and logan at the zoo... she's actually looking at the camera. very rare!

One of Logan's favorite things to do... wear Mrs. Potatohead's glasses. She will wear these all afternoon. It's pretty funny. It will be a sad day when they finally break. She also loves to wear this hat... even if it's 90+ degrees outside!

Miles' first ride in the big boy stroller. He thoroughly enjoyed being able to see what was going on.

Miles' new friend, Sophie the giraffe. She's rubber, she squeaks and he can slobber all over her. What's not to love?!

Another fabulous look from logan. Sunglasses that belong to her teddy bear and the hat that I knitted for her this past winter. Lookin' good!

Miles' debut in the jumperoo. I think he likes it!

miles 3.5 months

Here are some new pictures of my sweet boy at 3.5 months old. He's such a happy baby!

swimming in the big water and nekkid s'mores eatin'

We spent the last two nights with jordan's parents at their lake house. Logan had a blast swimming in the 'big water.' She spent at least two hours each day out there splashing and playing with all of her toys. The weather was perfect; not too hot or humid! It was so nice to feel like we were on a little vacation of sorts!

We made s'mores and roasted marshmallows at the fire pit. For the sake of her shirt, it was best that Logan ate her 'smore nekkid. =) She thoroughly enjoyed that treat!

one year ago today...

...Logan took her first steps! She took her first steps and has not looked back. We're amazed at how much she's grown and how she's not a baby anymore, but a little girl. I posted this collage last year shortly after she started walking. It still amazes me that she's only been walking a year. She was 15 and a half months old when she finally decided she would walk and like I said above, she has definitely not looked back. She's a busy little girl!

he rolls, both ways! ...maybe

Giving a little love to baby brother
That is one big boy!
Check out those jowls! He's such a sweet boy!
This was taken as Logan was pushing Miles off of her. Thank goodness I have quick hands!
So Miles has pretty much gotten to the point where I can't swaddle him anymore. Being the big baby that he is, he has outgrown all of his blankets. I pretty much refuse to buy more because he's getting too old to be swaddled anyway. So, now we're moving on to sleep sacks. Oh, how I'll miss swaddling! He was so easy to put down. I could just wrap him up as snug as a burrito and set him in the crib. He'd talk for a few minutes and then drift off to sleep. Now, his little arms wave about and he can't get settled. Hopefully, soon enough he will be able to put himself back to sleep again.
Last night, actually it was early this morning, Jordan swears that Miles rolled onto his belly. Miles had gotten up to eat around 3am this morning. I was putting him back to sleep when he spit up three separate times. After each spit up, I changed the sheets. So, after the third sheet change, Jordan wandered in Miles' room to see what was going on. I let Jordan put Miles back to sleep and I went back to bed. Jordan came to bed a little later and said that after Miles had busted out of his swaddle, he proceeded to flip over onto his belly. Of course, I was shocked and asked Jordan if he was serious. He said that he saw it with his 'own two eyeballs.' So, imagine my surprise this morning, when I walk into Miles' room and see that he is on his back... This would mean that Miles rolled both ways; back to belly and belly to back all in a few short hours. I'm really beginning to wonder if Jordan wasn't sleep walking when he "witnessed" Miles rolling onto his belly this morning!
I've yet to see Mr. Miles do any rolling... Maybe he saves his rolling for late nights in the crib. =) Or, maybe Jordan wasn't really sleepwalking, and he did actually roll both ways!
In Logan news... I was wondering when she was going to say it... She finally busted out "MINE!" the other day. I must say, I was shocked when she said it. I was so proud that she hadn't yet learned the word that most two year olds love to yell. Of course, she had been saying "geegan's" this and that.... but at least she wasn't yelling 'mine!' When she did bust out the 'mine,' she said it and then looked at me with a little smirk waiting to see what I'd say. She definitely knew it wasn't something nice to yell. She's also somewhat started with the " I do it" stuff. And, she has started telling on herself when she's doing something she shouldn't. She'll say, "hey mommy" as she's bouncing on the couch or about to tear a page out of a book. It really is all too funny and it's hard not to giggle. It is so much fun to watch her learn new things, even if they produce behaviors that are less than desirable!
