five months

Miles turned five months old (!!!) last Sunday, 8-16. I cannot believe he's this old! He's becoming such a little social guy... kind of like his mommy and sister. He loves to interact and giggle. He loves watching Logan... although Logan really doesn't pay attention to him at all. If he is fussy, she wants to know where his pacifier is! He got through the 4 mth wakeful period fairly easily. Within about a week or so, he was back on his normal sleeping schedule of 7:30pm-ish to 7:30am-ish. He naps about 3 times a day- about an hour each. He does well without having set naps also. He's very easygoing about sleeping in the car or stroller. I suppose when you're the second child, you have to adapt! He was waking about once to nurse around 3am, but now he's starting to wake 2 and 3 times a night. For that reason, I decided he might be ready for some solids. We started giving him oatmeal a few days ago. He's not too excited about it. He'll open his mouth like a bird for it and then he'll let it ooze out of his mouth all while making a yucky face! He's a mess! I'm not sure how much he weighs now. I just had to move him up to size 4 diapers because the 3's were getting too short! They were fine around the waist, just not long enough in the stride. He's super long-waisted just like daddy! I finally witnessed him rolling both ways. Now that I've seen him roll both ways, he won't do it again! I suppose he's just content to lay or sit! Speaking of sitting, Miles has begun to sit! He started out 'tripod-ing' and is now able to sit unassisted for a few minutes (seconds.) Of course, he loves to sling himself backward with no notice, so I can't leave him there by himself. I'm sure it won't be long before he's sitting all by himself! He continues to reach for toys and hold on to them. Here are some pictures taken the day before he turned 5 months old (close enough, right?)

fun!

Logan got her first haircut ever last week. 2 years 5 months old. There wasn't much to cut, but it definitely needed it. She's nowhere close to a ponytail!

Tennis anyone?! This girl is crazy. She put this all together by herself! I kid you not. She was saying, "play tennis" while tossing and attempting to hit the ball. She finally got her 'racquet' taken away after hitting the dog.
Lookin' good.

airplane!
This girl plays hard! Check out that sweaty head.

future soccer player?

we don't do timeouts

she loves her daddy!

this look pretty much says it all!

another solid look from logan... Some 'cabbage patch doll' earmuffs that were mine when I was little and some goggles

charleston

Two weeks ago, we went to Charleston for a checkup with the derm surgeon. As we predicted, he pretty much said the same thing that he said in feb of this year and aug of last year; Logan's birthmark looks great and we're going to continue to let it do it's thing. We may do some laser treatments as she gets older, but for now it isn't worth the risk as it would just be cosmetic (lasering would involve anesthesia.) So, we were happy with that and we don't have to go back for an entire year! We stayed in Charleston for the weekend for a mini-vacation of sorts. We went to Charles Town Landing and saw some interesting animals in their 'animal forest.' It was too hot to do much else while we were there (there are several other things to see.) We (ie: me and both children) did get eaten up by mosquitoes... jordan didn't get a single bite! Poor kiddos, they are definitely taking after me. We walked around downtown and we also went to folly beach one evening. It was a super short visit, but we always love to go to Charleston.

Look how big she is! She has gotten so tall recently. This is in our hotel room.
Miles hanging out in our hotel room.
Logan and daddy at folly... she was SO excited!

I wish I had gotten a picture of her face... there was a huge grin on it!

good fun!
there was sand stuck to her for days!

we told her it wouldn't taste good!

miles is always such a good little buddy. He enjoyed watching big sister. He was also enamored by the ocean.

Checking it all out...
such a sweet boy!

busy, busy, busy

We've been so busy recently that I've forgotten to post on our blog! We've been enjoying play dates, library story time and lunch with friends. I also decided I would consign all of Logan's fall/winter things from the last two years at a large consignment sale. Boy, was that involved and time-consuming! It was definitely worth it as I made a good chunk of change. I even volunteered so I could shop at the pre-sale. I scored some great finds, too! We are enjoying the wind-down of summertime and are looking forward to Logan starting preschool (!!!) next month. She's very excited to see her friends again, too! Here are some snapshots from the last few weeks.
Logan is intently watching 'Dora.' It's amazing how excited she gets about this show. Funny stuff.

Happy boy playing on the floor. Still loves his hands!
Playing with brother's toys in his room. Baby toys are so much fun. Way better than toddler toys!

Hanging out playing with toys. He's getting so strong!

Probably watching big sister; one of his very favorite things to do.

I left Miles in Logan's room for a second and came back to this. Logan was quite proud and Miles thought it was great. =)

She is very into sunglasses these days.

Unwittingly, so is Miles!

He's such a good sport!

Miss Potatohead glasses, yet again!
funny things Logan says (so I don't forget them)
